I have fought until the interweb has saved me.I found out why my pump was not sending John Deere 8960 diesel to the injectors … the stupid cold start sensor!
Well we unplugged it because the fuse was blown and it kept burning fuses, the tractor started immediately.
My neighbor’s John Deere 8960 tractor had this same problem several years ago.
The cold start sensor adjusts the injection pump timing when the engine is cold (below 50 degrees Celsius / 122 Fahrenheit) for easier starting. If you start without the cold start sensor, it should be fine.would fix it soon.
One thing … DO NOT use ether / starting fluid to start a cold engine.
